 I decided to go for alternative 2 where I use a lathe to make the shaft outer diameter same as the weldable bushing inner diameter. To get access to a lathe I registered to a metal forming course were you are allowed to bring you own projects. The bushing originally acquired was quite short so I bought a longer one to be able to make it the desired length. Below a picture of the main parts, modified winch drum and bushing. The reason why I kept the whole length of the winch drum is that the material was thickest at the end of the drum, so I wanted to use the strongest part of the shaft and take away material only where the wall is the thickest. I also kept about 5mm untouched of the thicker part of shaft to avoid causing a weak point where the drum would break, this is the reason I did not make the lathed area longer. I don't have any cad program or 3D design program to do the design in so I'm going to divide the problem into small pieces and hopefully not run into any issues down the line. Main problem to solve is the shaft line assembly, so let's start from there!   I need to somehow connect this, to this. I have to admit I did not do my research well enough before purchasing the winch!  I was hoping there would be an output shaft from the planetary gear but there is only a gear wheel that connects / disconnects the winch drum from motor. The design is simple and smart but maybe not optimal for this kind of alternative use of the motor. I have come up with tree alternatives witch all include using the winch drum as part of the shaft line. The bead roller. I have a hand cranked bead roller witch is not very practical from user point of view. It is difficult to use alone, and when you do the result is usually not good. I made a stand for it earlier, but other than that it is as it came out of the box when purchased.  When searching the  net there are several improvement ideas for these kind of bead rollers. Most common improvements are about stiffening the structure and motorizing them. I might end up applying some of the other improvement ideas also during this project, but the main objective is to motorize the roller! The motor.
